As of today the office will be closed until Monday 30th November.  I am so privileged to be attending the world famous workshop of Jesh De Rox.  This is my second time attending Jesh’s Australian workshop and I cant even begin to explain how inspiring and crazy cool this workshop is. I cant wait, so stay tuned and I will be back next week to answer any calls/emails and share some images and details from this amazing experience.

This week was WAPPA (Western Australian Professional Photography Awards) held at the Duxton.

The WAPPAs are the premier photography awards in Western Australia. Entrants provide a folio of there three best photographs to be judged by a panel of local experts together with the visiting judges. The panel uses a similar system to the Canon AIPP Australian Professional

Photographer of the Year Awards (APPA) with each print given a score between 50 and 100.  Prints scoring 85 and over receive a distinction sash.

This year was my first year attending and submitting work and I was pleasantly surprised as I was awarded a Silver distinction.  This is my second award this year and I must say I am a little chuffed.  Massive thanks goes out to amazing husband and fabulous friends who have helped me and supported me throughout my life. I really wouldn’t be here without each and every one of you, so thank you.

You can view the complete exhibition at the Central Park building 152-158 St Georges Terrace, Perth

from Monday 14th September to Friday 18th September.

APPA is the acronym for the Australian Professional Photography Awards, which are held annually in Sydney. Professional photographers from Australia and New Zealand compete for a number of industry awards by submitting four images, which are judged by a panel of their peers.

I was so excited on Sunday when my dear friend Erica Serena SMS me my scores from the APPA’s in Sydney.  I was honestly going to be happy with any score over 1. But to find out that my first image judged received a Silver with a score of 80 out of 100,  I was blown away and started screaming. My other three images also scored really well in the high 70’s, so I was wrapped.

I know that I am extremely lucky and grateful for the honor to receive this amazing award. I would firstly like to thank all my wonderful clients, who put there faith and trust in me to capture one of the most special days in your life. I am truly blessed to work with each and everyone of you and without you, none of this if possible.  I have also been so very fortunate that I have an amazing husband and fabulous friends who have helped me and supported me throughout my life. I really wouldn’t be here without each and every one of you, so thank you.

xo Kirsty

Well as all of my clients are aware I am currently away in the USA until 23rd March, but I forgot to mention this info to all my blog stalkers.  I have been dying to get to the USA for the past two years to attend the WPPI convention held in Vegas and travel the country to attend workshops with the best of the best.  Well I am here and in LOVE with the U S of A.  Everything is bigger and better and faster and has simple blown my mine.  Up until arriving in the states, I didn’t realize that I in fact spoke another language other then English. Apparently as Aussies we dont speak english, weird I know!!!  Dave and I have had to slow down our talking pace to 1/3 of normal as know one could understand us, this has been our one and only challenge so not bad considering.

So currently we are in Vegas, at MGM attending the convention.  My dear friend Samm and her partner Michael are also over here, which has made the trip so much fun.  We went out the other night not to gamble but to a really nice dinner then to the amusement arcade for a couple of hours of fun and bags full of plastic crappy toys that we won.

Only going to post a few photographs in this post, as a teasers of what is to come.

I had the immense pleasure of meeting Amy Seely at Jesh De Rox’s recent workshop.  The workshop was life changing, which I will go into more detail in another posting as there is not enough I can say about what I have experienced and learnt from not only Jesh but from 16 strangers who now call friends.  At the workshop, we as a group we sat on the floor, were blind folded and told that without vision there is no judgement, and to just absorb what was about to unfold.  It was not only intimidating to not know what I was about to experience, but exhilarating in the same breath.  Then a piano has began to be played, and its Gravel Lines. If you have never listen to this track, it is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever created.  So me being the skeptic that I am, is thinking wow Samm has some serious surround sound speakers in this place, as its almost as if Amy is singing directly in front of me.  Little did I or anyone else know, that as we removed the blind folders, there sits Amy less then a meter away from all of us.

Amy flew from Canada to sing to us and share her amazing gift, how unbelievable cool is that.  Honesty it was a moment that I will never forget and I sit here with goose bumps as i recall the moment so vividly.

Amy there are no words, to describe what you have given me so thank you. Jesh thank you for the most amazing journey ever, and also for bringing us all closer to Amy and her work.

For all of you who haven’t been introduced to Amy’s work you can purchase her latest CD Eight Belles through her site and I would defiantly recommended getting a copy of Call it Life and The Trees are glad you came. Her work will not disappoint.
